Thanks to the generosity of UNC faculty members and the region’s Persian community, Carolina’s Persian studies collection has grown dramatically in the last few years. With the addition of books, films and subscriptions, supporters have taken on this Library project with great enthusiasm, while interest continues to build. Please see the various generous endowments below that have allowed our collection to grow. The UNC Library continues to seek creative ways to build the collection.
- The Jarrahi Family Library Fund for Persian Studies. Created to assist in acquisition of books, journals, films, and language learning resources relating to Persian language and culture.
- The Pars Endowment for Persian Study. This is a fund to help build the Persian Studies collection and support the growing research and teaching needs in Persian Studies at UNC.
- The Horner Jarrahi Persian Studies Speaker Series Endowment. This is to fund a series of free public programs at the Library related to Persian studies, history, and culture.
- The Dr. Reza Saadat Memorial Endowment for Persian Study in Honor of Hafez-e Shirazi. This fund assists the Library in acquiring books, journals, and electronic resources to advance the Persian studies collection and acquire materials about Persian language, culture, and philosophy.
